e insurance can be a tricky subject for many individuals but this may be especially so for those with health problems.
As a matter of fact, those that are or who have suffered from various medical conditions may find that they are virtually uninsurable or that when coverage is offered that it is not within their budget.
However, there are ways of attaining affordable insurance regardless of current health or past issues and various policies which may be available.
Guaranteed Life Insurance Versus Tier Rated
These types of policies are convenient for the aging population and others that may be considered high risk. Under this type of policy, the consumer is guaranteed coverage regardless of these issues.
Under this type of plan, the amounts covered may be smaller though and payments may be somewhat higher but this can vary significantly by the carrier. With some of these plans, the person may not even have to obtain a physical or provide significant information about health.
Another unique way of obtaining a life policy for those with higher risk is through a tier system. In this type of policy, there are typically a specific number of premiums that must be paid before a death benefit is paid.
In addition to this, the full amount is not due and payable upon the event of death depending on how long the policy has been in force. In the majority of cases, this amount is increased in annual or bi-annual increments. This type of coverage is not offered by all companies though and is scarcer than guaranteed life plans.
Other Types of Life Insurance
There are some kinds of life policies that are designated to cover accidental death only. These are common referred to as the accidental only policies.
While these are typically more inexpensive than the above mentioned options, they only cover accidental death that is not related to any specific health condition. Coverage amounts are moderate and approval does not rely as heavily on the current or past health status.
As with the tier rated system, these plans are not typically available through the majority of providers.
